The Sustainable Future of Land-Based Recirculating Aquaculture Systems
Updated: Sep 22, 2020
Land-based Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) are the sustainable future for aquaculture. Land-based RAS is the most effective way to meet the world’s growing demand for protein and nutritious food. Recirculating aquaculture and aquaponics systems make dramatically more efficient use of arable land, livestock feed, freshwater, energy, and supply chain resources while minimizing environmental footprint compared to traditional land-based agriculture.
This video provides a view of what our RAS designing partner, JLH Consulting Inc., has developed using Searen’s VAL™.
JLH Consulting Inc. specializes in the design of customized, economical recirculating aquaculture systems that operate with high efficiency.

John L. Holder created JLH Consulting Inc. to assist land-based fish farmers with setting up, maintaining, and upgrading their recirculating aquaculture systems. He understands that many fish farmers’ entire businesses rely on a RAS that is profitable, reliable, and maintainable. That’s why his business is more than just about designing and building RAS for people. As one of the leading companies in the industry, they are always working on new design techniques and manufacturing processes.
